(Photos by Waedao Harai)NARATHIWAT - Six pipe bombs were hurled at a police checkpoint in Bacho district Thursday morning, killing one policeman and seriously injuring another. The attack happened at about 5am as an unidentified number of people approached the backyard of the Tonsai police checkpoint on Phetkasem Highway in tambon Palu Kasamoh and threw six steel pipe bombs weighing 700-800 grammes each. Pol Capt Kawin Nitithamtrakul, the checkpoint chief, said ten policemen were manning the location at the time of the attack. Authorities believed the incident was a routine attack on government officials in the South.
